Between driving up the coast to the redwoods and down the coast to Big Sur, I spent a few days with Jenn at her little cottage in the Bay Area. I never wanted to leave her sweet, sunny, flowery world! Jenn is working on her Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine while completing yoga teacher training, being a certified birth doula, working for a midwife, being mama to her tiny puppy Finn, and organizing the most beautiful, intimate gatherings of women. I don't know how she does it all, but here's a peek into a gorgeous Sunday morning with Jenn and her husband Darian.

New Hampshire Winter Wedding // Caitlyn & Mike

Caitlyn & Mike have a quirky, adorable personalities and a sweet and equally quirky relationship. On their first date, where they were supposed to show their work at a film festival, Cait locked their keys and all their equipment in their car. On the second date, she lost them down an elevator shaft and was five hours late. She is adorably, infamously late for all things. Their wedding ceremony was no exception, but honestly, it was kinda perfect that way. It was so them. Their Catholic mass ceremony was at the stunning Saint Patrick's Church in Milford, NH, and the reception was at the rustic Alpine Grove in Hollis. It was beautiful, cozy, a bit behind schedule, a whole lotta Scottish, and abundantly fun. They filled their freezing January day with candlelight and warmth. I absolutely loved it all.

Roger Williams Wedding // JR & Charles

JR and Charles moved to Providence a couple years ago, and all their family is out of state. Their simple elopement at the Temple of Music in Roger Williams State Park would make any couple in the throes of wedding planning jealous. After a heartfelt little ceremony we wandered the park, and then they flew off to a honeymoon in Iceland. These two are genius.

Maine Lakeside Wedding // Jenna & Trevor

Jenna and Trevor's wedding was a beautiful, laid-back expression of their fun-loving, adventurous personalities. They traveled all the way from Texas to get married at Maine Lakeside Cabins. And they took full advantage of the surroundings by booking me for a day-after session at Moxie Falls. Wedding weekends don't get much better than this!

Why did you choose Maine Lakeside Cabins as your location?

"We live in a busy city, so we wanted nothing more than to escape for a weekend and enjoy the outdoors with friends and family. Maine Lakeside Cabins was perfect for us because it offered such a serene atmosphere and beautiful views."

Was there anything unique about your ceremony?

"Our theme was whisky and wine, whiskey representing the groom and wine representing the bride. Therefore, to incorporate our theme, we held a unity wine ceremony forgoing the traditional unity candle. This ceremony better represented our fun-loving selves."

Were there any traditions that were especially important to you?

"We loved the tradition of waiting to see each other for the first time when the bride walked down the aisle. We both wanted that 'special' moment to occur as part of the ceremony and all the emotions that come with it. Another tradition that was important to the bride was wearing 'something borrowed'. I wore my mom’s pearl necklace that she had worn at her wedding and carried my great-grandmother’s hankie with me."

"Another unique aspect of the ceremony was that our close friend performed the ceremony for us. Years ago he had joked about marrying us, however when the time came to find someone, we took him up on his offer! He got ordained just to conduct our wedding, which gave the overall ceremony a more personal feel."

Any special details that went into your day?

"First, the wine that was displayed, and then later served at the reception, was made by us. With the help of a local winery, we were able to create the exact flavors we wanted to pair with our dinner. Second, we both love lobster! It was very important to us that we have this as part of our special day, so our close friend caught all the lobsters fresh and they were served at dinner."

What was your favorite part of your day?

"We snuck away from the reception for a few minutes and went and stood by the lake. This was so great because the day had been so busy and emotional that in these few minutes we were finally able to stop and appreciate that we both just married the love of our life."

Maine Backyard Wedding Photography

Of course I love weddings full of creative DIY's, crazy fun wedding parties, and rustically gorgeous venues. But backyard, simple weddings have a special place in my heart, especially since Kurtis and I were married in a simple backyard celebration a few years ago. Nicolas and Daria's special day focused on what mattered most to them - time well spent with family and friends - without any of the stress or unnecessary expense. Yay for couples doing their thing and getting married the way they want! These two totally nailed it.P.S. These two opted for only 4 hours of coverage, but they still got a ton of photos. I do offer a lower-priced Collection for backyard ceremonies, elopements and other tiny untraditional weddings like this that don't need me there all day. Woodsy Maine Engagement Photography // Maddie & Jon

I'm not even exaggerating when I write that these two are the cutest. If you follow my work, you'll recognize Maddie as the amazing hair stylist and subject of earlier portrait sessions. What a pleasant surprise when she and Jon were engaged!

When Jon started attending Maddie's church in Providence, she noticed him right away and jokingly referred to him as her "future husband" before she'd even worked up the courage to introduce herself… six months later!

Maddie says, "He's become my best friend and complements me in so many ways that I didn't think were actually possible in a relationship."

I know. This Providence couple is the sweetest.
